  1.        Instructions for using Winfax Lite/Pro 2.0 and Silent Answer

  3. You must locate the two devices on separate extensions to make silent
  4. answer work correctly.  This means you can not plug the answering machine
  5. into the modem or vise versa.  You can split a single extension with
  6. a duplex jack adapter.  Radio Shack commonly carries these, part number 
  7. 279-357, for $4.49. (From my current catalog)  The other important 
  8. factor is that you must install the Class2 option, otherwise this will
  9. not work.

  11. 1.  Run Winfax Administrator
  12. 2.  Choose "Fax"
  13. 3.  Choose "Setup"
  14. 4.  Choose "More"
  15. 5.  Change/Add to "Init String" to AT+FAA=2
  16. 6.  Choose "OK"
  17. 7.  Choose "OK"
  18. 8.  Choose "Receive"
  19. 9.  Choose "Receive Setup"
  20. 10. Choose "Automatic Reception Enabled"
  21.     Change "Number of Rings till Answer" to 2 more rings then answering
  22.     machine or what ever device will pick up the phone first.  I have
  23.     my answering machine set for 3 rings and Winfax for 5 rings.  This
  24.     value may vary and will probably require some initial trial and error.

  26.     Note: The device that is picking up the line initially must answer
  27.           after the second ring.  This means you should set it to
  28.           answer on 3 rings for best results.

  32. Requires same placement of the phone devices as Winfax Lite/Pro 2.0.
  33. Also requires you install the Class2 option, otherwise this will not work

  39. 4.  Choose "Fax/Modem"
  40. 5.  Change "Modem Initialization String" to AT&F&C1&D2+FCLASS=2+FAA=2
  41. 6.  Change "Modem Reset String" to ATZ
  42. 7.  Choose "OK"
  43. 8.  Choose "OK"
  44. 9.  Choose "Receive"
  45. 10. Choose "Receive Setup"
  46. 10. Choose "Automatic Reception Enabled"
